Job summary

SpartanNash in Caledonia, Michigan is seeking an Apprentice Meat Cutter who will properly cut all types of meats, weigh portions, and prepare products according to department standards. You will assist with value-added cuts and ensure accurate pricing, dating, and wrapping of meat items.

The role requires basic math, ability to read and follow recipes, and attention to detail. Prior meat cutter or apprentice experience is strongly preferred for this position.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• One year retail or related experience preferred.
• Prior Meat Cutter or Apprentice experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
• Basic mathematical skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Cut and weigh steaks, chops, etc. for individual servings.
• Produce value-added products per established guidelines.
• Cut, trim, and bone carcass sections or prime cuts.
• Follow recipes to grind and tray meats and make sausage.
• Price, date, wrap and/or bag meat products per guidelines.
• Properly fill, rotate and merchandise shelves, cases and displays.
• Notify the manager if products and supplies need to be ordered.
• Receives, unloads, and stocks merchandise.
• Maintain a clean, attractive and well stocked department.
• Follow PPE and safety guidelines and guest experience guidelines.
