Job summary

SpartanNash in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Meat Cutter to accurately break down beef, pork and other cuts and prepare value-added products according to department standards.

You will weigh, price, wrap and display meat, follow recipes, rotate stock, assist customers, and maintain cleanliness and safety in a fast-paced retail setting. Experience preferred; high school diploma or GED required; ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Training provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1 year retail or meat department experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret product specs.

Responsibilities

• Cut and weigh steaks, chops, etc. for individual servings.
• Produce value-added products per established guidelines.
• Cut, trim, and bone carcass sections or prime cuts to cooking cuts.
• Follow established recipes to grind and tray meats and make sausage and other products.
• Price, date, wrap and/or bag meat products per guidelines.
• Fill, rotate and merchandise shelves, cases and displays.
• Notify the manager if products and supplies need to be ordered.
• Receive, unload, and stocks merchandise.
• Maintain product knowledge and perform suggestive selling with customers.
• Keep the department clean, safe, and well stocked; follow PPE and safety guidelines.
