Job summary

SpartanNash in Allendale, Michigan is seeking a Meat Cutter Apprentice to learn to cut and prepare meats according to department standards. You will cut, weigh, and portion steaks, chops and other cuts for sale while assisting in value-added product prep.

Ideal candidates hold a high school diploma or GED, basic math, and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced retail setting. Prior meat-cutting experience is a plus; safety and accuracy are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year retail or related experience preferred; meat cutter/apprentice experience preferred.
• Ability to read, write, comprehend and interpret documents.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Cut and weigh steaks, chops, etc. for individual servings.
• Produce value-added products per guidelines.
• Cut, trim and bone carcass sections to cooking cuts.
• Follow recipes to grind and tray meats and make sausage.
• Price, date, wrap and bag meat products per guidelines.
• Properly fill, rotate and merchandise shelves and displays.
• Notify manager if products and supplies need ordering.
• Receive, unload, and stock merchandise.
• Maintain a clean, attractive, well-stocked department.
• Follow PPE, safety, and guest experience guidelines.
