Job summary

SpartanNash in Bismarck, ND is seeking a Meat Cutter to join our team. You will cut and prepare a variety of meats, follow standardized recipes, and ensure products meet quality and safety standards in a busy retail setting.

The role requires basic math, reading and writing skills, and a preference for previous meat cutting or grocery experience. Training on PPE and food safety will be provided, with opportunities to advance in a supportive, team-focused environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year retail or related experience preferred.
• Prior experience as Meat Cutter is strongly preferred.
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Detail oriented and accurate work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Cut and weigh steaks, chops, etc. for individual servings.
• Produce value-added products per guidelines.
• Cut, trim, and bone carcass sections to cooking cuts.
• Follow recipes to grind and tray meats and make sausage and other products.
• Price, date, wrap and/or bag meat products per guidelines.
• Rotate and merchandise shelves, cases and displays.
• Notify manager if products and supplies need ordering.
• Receive, unload and stock merchandise.
• Know differences in price, taste, preparation and usage of products.
• Practice suggestive selling to customers.
• Maintain a clean, well stocked department.
• Follow PPE, safety, food safety and cleaning expectations.
• Follow guest experience guidelines.
