Qualifications

• RN license in the state of practice is required.
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility.
• Strong knowledge of Case-Mix, PPS, and Medicaid reimbursement.
• Thorough understanding of Quality Indicator process and OBRA regulations.
• Experience with MDS 3.0 is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Interdisciplinary Team to assess resident needs and schedule MDS assessments and care plan reviews as required by governing agencies.
• Decide on completing additional MDS assessments based on clinical criteria per the latest MDS User’s Manual.
• Coordinate daily stand-up meetings and review resident care and assessment reference dates.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations regarding MDS processes.
• Monitor MDS and care plan documentation and ensure accurate coding in medical records.
• Maintain current MDS status of residents per guidelines and ensure data entry into MDS programs.
• Complete final MDS coding from chart review and interviews and submit to the appropriate authorities.
• Provide training and guidance on RAI processes, PPS, Medicare/Medicaid requirements, and clinical systems.
