Job summary

Casa Arena Healthcare is seeking a qualified MDS Coordinator to lead timely completion of the RAI/MDS processes from admission to discharge in compliance with federal, state, and facility guidelines.

Under the direction of the Director of Nursing and VP of Clinical Reimbursement, you will coordinate care management activities, ensure accurate coding, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to optimize resident outcomes and reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved RN/LVN program and licensed in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility.
• Excellent knowledge of Case-Mix, the Federal Medicare PPS process, and Medicaid reimbursement.
• Thorough understanding of the OBRA regulations and Minimum Data Set.
• Experience with MDS 3.0 is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess residents' needs with the Interdisciplinary Team and schedule MDS assessments and care plan reviews.
• Ensure decisions on completing additional MDS assessments based on clinical criteria.
• Coordinate daily stand-up meetings and review resident care and assessment reference dates.
• Comply with federal and state regulations for the MDS process.
• Monitor MDS and care plan documentation in the medical record.
• Maintain current MDS status per guidelines.
• Maintain data entry into MDS programs.
• Complete accurate MDS coding from record reviews, observations, and interviews.
• Other duties as assigned.
