Job summary

National Grid is seeking a Software Engineer - Maximo to join our Gas Enterprise Asset Management team in a hybrid role across NY/MA. You will design, configure, and support Maximo solutions, deliver integrations, and drive improvements across Work Management, Construction, and Inspections for Gas Operations.

You will partner with stakeholders, implement CI/CD, and use AI tools to boost quality and productivity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of Scrum/Agile, ITIL, and SDLC practices.
• 5+ years of application development, application support, or enterprise platform engineering.
• 2+ years on an Agile development team.
• 2+ years implementing or supporting Maximo in cloud-based architectures.
• Strong knowledge of Enterprise Asset Management systems, Maximo implementation practices, and utility asset management processes.
• Experience configuring and extending Maximo (Database Configuration, Escalations, Cron Tasks, workflows, automation scripts, MBO customizations, BIRT reports, integration frameworks).
• Experience with integrations to SAP, Salesforce, GIS, mobile apps, and other enterprise platforms.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, cloud deployment patterns, source control, and CI/CD practices.
• Proficiency in Java, SQL, and related development technologies; Python, JavaScript, C#, DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, MuleSoft, and Azure are a plus.
• Experience optimizing Maximo performance and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for the Gas Enterprise Asset Management platform, including IBM Maximo 7.6 and MAS 9.
• Design, develop, configure, test, and support Maximo solutions across the full software delivery lifecycle.
• Deliver maintainable changes, production fixes, performance improvements, and operational support for Maximo and integrations.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into designs and delivery plans.
• Mentor teammates and promote engineering excellence and best practices.
• Apply AI-enabled development tools to improve quality, productivity, or end-user value.
• Build and support integrations with enterprise systems using Web Services, REST/SOAP, and Maximo Integration Framework.
• Create validation documents, test plans, and deployment evidence for auditable delivery.
• Maintain technical documentation and deployment guides.
