Job summary

Los Medanos College’s Math Department seeks a full-time instructor to teach a wide range of math courses, including transfer and STEM-level coursework. The role emphasizes equitable teaching, collaboration on curriculum, and participation in department and college initiatives.

Evening/online teaching and alignment with AB705/1705 goals are expected. The department supports diverse student success and equity goals with ongoing curriculum remodeling and new courses such as Quantitative Reasoning

Qualifications

• Master’s in mathematics or applied mathematics OR Bachelor’s in either of the above AND Master’s in statistics, physics or mathematics education OR the equivalent.
• Understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff and faculty.

Responsibilities

• Advancing equitable student learning through exemplary instruction in accordance with established course outlines.
• Participating in assessment of student learning outcomes for courses and programs; developing and implementing assessment processes.
• Collaborating in curriculum development and program review; engaging in department improvement initiatives.
• Participating in college committees and professional development; maintaining current knowledge and effective teaching strategies.
• Informing students of course requirements and academic progress; posting and maintaining office hours; supporting college governance processes.
