Job summary

UC San Diego is seeking a Graduate Advisor in the Mathematics Department to support graduate education programs and admissions processes. You will work closely with faculty and graduate affairs staff to administer admissions, advise applicants and admitted students, and ensure compliance with policies.

You will also collaborate with the Student Affairs Team to promote student success, coordinate outreach, and maintain departmental materials.

• Proven experience counseling graduates on programs and curricula.
• Ability to evaluate academic records and make analytical decisions.
• Strong written and oral communication with diverse groups.
• Confidentiality regarding academic, financial, payroll, and personnel information.
• Interpersonal skills with diverse populations and crisis handling.

Responsibilities

• Provide faculty support for graduate programs and admissions decisions.
• Advise applicants and admitted students on policies and procedures.
• Act as a liaison between faculty, students, and campus offices to ensure policy compliance.
• Contribute to the Student Affairs Team and support department initiatives.
• Cross-train in Graduate Affairs to ensure continuity of advising and administration.
