Job summary

Loudoun County Public Schools in Ashburn, Virginia, seeks a Mathematics Specialist to organize, coordinate and advance K-12 math curriculum and instruction in collaboration with the Mathematics Supervisor.

The role involves planning, developing, implementing and assessing math programs across the division, guiding professional learning, and working with school teams to improve student outcomes.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree required.
• 5 years of successful teaching experience in Mathematics at the elementary or secondary level.
• Holds or is eligible for a Virginia Postgraduate Professional License with an endorsement in Math or Elementary Education PreK-6.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates the effectiveness of the Math instructional program; identifies needs and develops plans to meet them; ensure LCPS Math program aligns with Virginia DOE guidelines.
• Plans, advises, and facilitates professional learning to improve student outcomes.
• Collaborates with school-based teams to conduct learning walks and provide technical assistance for mathematics resources and instruction.
• Directs or assists in coordinating special math projects and initiatives.
• Works with other central office departments to provide coordinated instructional services.
• Supports Math Resource Teachers and School-Based Math Support Positions through coaching and collaborative planning.
• Assists with selection, purchase, and distribution of math materials; maintains inventories.
