Job summary

Westfield Public Schools is seeking a long term substitute Math Intervention Teacher at Westfield Middle School to support students in need of mathematics intervention. The Math Specialist will analyze assessment data, differentiate instruction, and collaborate with teachers and administrators to identify, assist, and report on progress of students.

The position requires collaboration within MTSS and district priorities, with a focus on engaging, rigorous, culturally responsive instruction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree preferred.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates skill at interpretation of assessment data to drive instruction.
• Review data to make instructional decisions to address student weakness.
• Utilize instruction management systems which increases student learning and maximizes time on task.
• Plan and teach lessons to classes and small groups of at-risk students using state standards, district curriculum and various assessments.
• Plan and develop lessons and activities conducive to remote learning and student need.
• Collaborate with the principal, classroom teachers, coaches and other appropriate staff in the school by meeting regularly to provide coordinated instruction to raise student learning and achievement.
• Collaborate with teachers for instruction planning and delivery.
• Utilize MTSS model and tiered instruction.
• Monitor and maintain accurate records on student achievement, articulating the progress and success.
• Evaluate student performance and provide parents/guardians with goals and progress reports.
• Provide explicit, scientifically based instruction to students.
• Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning.
• Promote and maintain positive relationships with school community.
• Participate in district professional development.
• Maintain professional work habits.
• Perform other job related duties as assigned by principal and/or Administrator of Student Interventions.
