Job summary

Pearson is seeking a Specialist, Content Developer (Mathematics) within the Asset Creation team to develop K-12 assessments for state and district clients across the United States. The role blends content expertise with assessment development, leveraging AI tools to ensure high quality, accessible content.

Responsibilities include item creation, requirements documentation, and collaboration with educators and psychometricians.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education, content-specific area, or equivalent experience required.
• Five years’ experience as an elementary or secondary teacher in the field of content-specific area preferred.
• Professional knowledge of content-specific area and educational trends required.
• Some experience in large-scale, educational measurement preferred.
• General knowledge of all phases of the development, processing, scoring, and reporting of large-scale assessments preferred.
• Demonstrated excellence in AI-supported content development, or clear evidence of strong potential and readiness to leverage AI effectively in content creation.
• Experience or familiarity with prompting, refining, and evaluating AI-generated content for education purposes.
• Skill in basic software tools and technology and the confidence necessary to work with unfamiliar programs.
• Demonstrated interest in learning about and adapting to new AI technologies as they evolve.
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills
• Ability to creatively and flexibly address challenges with a variety of audiences
• Excellent planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills and the ability to work on multiple activities and adapt to unexpected event

Responsibilities

• Develop and review content-specific test items across grade levels for large-scale assessments.
• Help develop item and test specifications and blueprints.
• Leverage AI-powered tools to support content and accessibility standards.
• Collaborate to integrate AI-generated assets in assessment workflows.
• Identify and train item writers to develop items based on standards and cognitive complexity.
• Facilitate customer meetings and provide content assessment expertise.
• Support test construction and review of test forms.
• Consult with customers during planning and reviews.
• Work with Pearson teams and psychometricians.
• Stay current with emerging AI technologies in content creation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
