Job summary

Sundt Construction is seeking a Materials Testing Technician to perform field and laboratory testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, and other materials for heavy civil projects. You will obtain representative samples, conduct tests per ASTM/AASHTO, and document results to verify contract compliance.

You'll work with field crews, quality staff, and subcontractors, reporting to the Materials Testing Manager. Strong safety, accuracy, and teamwork are essential in this demanding environment.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of experience in construction materials testing.
• ACI Aggregate Base Technician certification.
• ACI Concrete Aggregate Technician Level 1.
• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I.
• ACI Concrete Strength Technician certification.
• State DOT, NICET, or equivalent certifications.

Responsibilities

• Document testing activities, sample IDs, results, and observations.
• Calibrate, maintain, and inventory testing equipment and supplies.
• Communicate results and quality concerns to management and QC teams.
• Coordinate testing with operations to support production schedules.
• Follow safety policies and project requirements during field and lab work.
• Inspect materials against designs and project specs.
• Maintain chain-of-custody and sample tracking.
