Job summary

UES is seeking a CMT Soils Laboratory Technician II to lead advanced laboratory testing and QA for soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregates, and other construction materials. You will ensure compliance with ASTM, AASHTO, and project specs, perform complex testing, troubleshoot equipment, and review data.

The ideal candidate has knowledge of materials testing procedures, QC protocols, and regulatory compliance, with strong problem-solving and safety focus in a fast-paced lab environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate degree preferred.
• 0–3 years experience in construction materials testing or related lab work.
• Ability to read, interpret procedures, manuals, and reports.
• Commitment to OSHA safety protocols and PPE use.
• Basic computer skills; familiarity with data collection software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine lab testing on soil, concrete, and aggregates per ASTM/AASHTO standards.
• Document and report test results with organized records.
• Prepare samples, handle and store materials per procedures.
• Operate laboratory testing equipment and maintain calibration.
• Follow safety protocols and use PPE at all times.
• Communicate results and issues with lab staff and field personnel.
• Assist with project testing requirements and QA/QC activities.
• Support lab team, field technicians, and project managers as needed.
