Job summary

Sundt Enterprise seeks a Materials Testing Technician to perform field and laboratory sampling, testing, and documentation for soils, aggregates, concrete, and related materials on heavy civil projects. You will obtain samples, run tests per ASTM/AASHTO specs, and report results to ensure contract compliance.

This role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and quality in a demanding construction environment, with travel between testing locations as needed and collaboration with field crews and management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical degree preferred.
• ACI Grade I certification is required or preferred.
• Experience with ASTM/AASHTO testing procedures is expected.
• Must have valid driver's license and travel between sites.

Responsibilities

• Accurately document testing activities, samples, results, and observations.
• Assist with calibration, maintenance, and inventory of testing equipment.
• Communicate results and quality concerns to management and quality personnel.
• Coordinate testing activities with operations to support schedules.
• Follow safety policies and regulations on field and lab work.
• Inspect materials for compliance with specs and mix designs.
• Maintain chain-of-custody and sample tracking.
• Obtain representative field samples per ASTM/AASHTO requirements.
• Perform field and lab testing (gradations, moisture-density, concrete testing).
• Support aggregate crushing and QC programs.
