Job summary

S&ME in New Albany, IN is seeking a Construction Materials Laboratory Technician to join the Construction Services team in our lab. This full-time role focuses on conducting soil, concrete, masonry, and asphalt testing, reporting results, and helping maintain calibration of lab equipment.

You will review junior staff results, coordinate test assignments on small to medium projects, and uphold safety and quality standards while delivering accurate data to project teams.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; related vocational training is a plus.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a construction materials laboratory.
• ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician Level II is required.
• Additional active industry certifications are a plus: ACI Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; ICC Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils).
• Effective math skills with a strong understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure.
• Effective communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Test and report findings of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt testing in the laboratory.
• Maintain testing equipment and perform necessary maintenance and calibration.
• Coordinate testing assignments and perform preliminary review of colleagues' results.
