Job summary

UES is seeking a Construction Materials Testing Technician to support field and laboratory testing of soil, concrete, and related materials. The role emphasizes outdoor work, attention to detail, and safety on job sites.

Training and growth opportunities are offered in a dynamic geotechnical environment. The position requires reading construction plans, performing testing per ASTM/AASHTO standards, and coordinating with project teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; technical training preferred.
• At least 3 years of field materials testing experience.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and technical specs.
• Strong written and verbal communication; proficient with MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Perform field testing on construction materials including soil compaction, concrete slump, air content, temperature, and cylinder sampling.
• Conduct density testing using nuclear gauges or sand cone methods.
• Observe and document field activities in accordance with project specs and standards (ASTM, AASHTO).
• Collect samples for laboratory testing and deliver them with proper chain-of-custody.
• Prepare concise daily field reports and submit documentation promptly.
• Communicate field findings and potential issues with project managers, engineers, and contractors.
• Ensure equipment calibration, maintenance, and proper use per QC standards.
• Comply with safety regulations and maintain on-site and lab safety.
• Travel to multiple job sites and perform vehicle-related duties as needed.
• Other duties may be assigned.
