Job summary

Sundt Construction in Odessa, TX is seeking a Materials Testing Technician to perform field and laboratory sampling, testing, and documentation of soils, aggregates, concrete, and other construction materials for heavy civil projects.

You will obtain representative samples, conduct tests per ASTM/AASHTO, and record results to verify contract compliance, working closely with field crews and quality personnel in a safety‑driven, fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of experience in construction materials testing.
• ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician Grade I Certification.
• Ability to read and interpret project specifications, testing procedures, and construction plans.
• Proficiency with basic computer applications including Microsoft Office and electronic reporting systems.

Responsibilities

• Document testing activities, sample identification, test results, and field observations using approved forms and reporting systems.
• Assist with calibration, maintenance, and inventory control of testing equipment and laboratory supplies.
• Communicate testing results, deficiencies, and quality concerns to the Materials Testing Manager and project personnel in a timely manner.
• Coordinate testing activities with construction operations to support production schedules and contract testing frequencies.
• Follow all safety policies and project requirements while performing field and laboratory work.
• Inspect materials and testing activities to ensure compliance with designs, specs, and quality requirements.
