Job summary

Blue Origin seeks an M&P Engineer to support aerospace-grade materials and processes for the Lunar Permanence team. You will contribute from design through manufacturing, ensuring parts and assemblies meet spacecraft requirements in a safety-conscious culture.

Key tasks include evaluating lubricants for vacuum/cryogenic environments, reviewing complex drawings, and leading test plans for material qualification. Travel to vendor sites will be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Aerospace, Materials, Mechanical, Manufacturing or Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • 6+ years of demonstrated M&P engineering experience on a production space program.
  • Experience with tribology including lubrication science, coatings, wear mechanisms.
  • Experience with solid/liquid lubricants for space and vacuum environments.
  • Experience in materials review, development, and qualification processes.
  • Experience developing and executing test plans for components, materials, and processes.
  • Knowledge of industry standards for material data analysis (MMPDS, MAPTIS, CMH-17).
  • Ability to travel to Blue Origin and vendor sites for development and testing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide M&P engineering support for aerospace-grade materials and processes.
  • Support mechanical design for assemblies meeting vehicle system requirements.
  • Conduct characterization and qualification efforts for materials and processes.
  • Review production drawings for large complex assemblies and document reviews.
  • Sign off on M&P release of engineering drawings for parts and assemblies.
  • Evaluate lubricants and surface treatments for vacuum/cryogenic/high-cycle use.
  • Characterize friction, wear, and lubrication via analysis and testing.
  • Support internal and external M&P efforts, including supplier qualification and testing.
  • Help develop internal engineering and quality processes for material evaluation and qualification.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams within Lunar organization and other units.
