MITER Brands, a leading residential window and door manufacturer (MI Windows & Doors, Milgard, PGT Innovations), is seeking a Materials Manager to oversee Purchasing and Receiving at our Temperance, Michigan facility. You will drive inventory accuracy, cycle counting, and material flow to the line, while leading a team, ensuring safety, and supporting month-end close and cost reporting.

Job DescriptionPay Range: $99,000 - $123,000 depending on relevant experience and qualificationsMITER Brands is a residential window and door manufacturer that provides a leading portfolio of window and door brands for the new construction and replacement segments. MITER Brands, also known as Milgard, MI Windows & Doors and PGTI is one of the nation’s largest suppliers of vinyl windows and patio doors, with plants across the country.As a member of the location leadership team, the Materials Manager will manage the Purchasing and Receiving functional areas. You will be responsible for the inventory accuracy, inventory turns, timely receiving and flow of material to the line, safety within the receiving/handling team, and preventing stock-outs. You will also assist in tracking and reporting internal supply manufacturing costs, along with the cost of product calculations, waste costs, and month-end financial close documents.ResponsibilitiesManaging efficient and effective purchasing behavior, min/max analysis, inventory turns improvement, etc. for minimum inventory levels while still meeting material availability requirementsSupervises site Receiving/Handling Supervisor, Buyer/Planners and others as assigned.Manages talent development and succession plan for teamInventory Cycle Counting including root cause and corrective action (BOM analysis and discrepancies, receiving and transfer errors, etc.)Safety training, near miss/incident root cause and corrective action, adherence to safety policiesEnsure adherence to internal controls across, purchasing, receiving and materials handling.Timely and efficient flow of material within the plant inclusive of flow analysis, coordination with manufacturing leadership, equipment/storage solutions, kanbans, etc.Works with Quality organization to drive programs related to supplier and material quality assurance, material returns, disposition and scrap disposalAnalyze and review purchasing, costing accuracy, and manufacturing waste.Support and assist in expense budgeting for materials, supplies, and other expenses.Work with strategic procurement team on insuring plant needs on leadtime and pricing are met, coordination of relationships and vendor negotiating for local suppliers.Clear x-functional communication including timely highlights of material risks/shortages, working across functions on solutions for materials flow, substitutions, etc.Key metrics include cycle count accuracy, receipts within 24 hours, inventory days of supply, safety incident rate, number of stock-outsActive member of location Management Team and participation in location Gemba Walks; Safety Committees and daily Operations Meetings.QualificationsWilling to travel 10-15%Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Supply Chain, or related field or equivalent combination of experience and education to successfully perform the essential functions of the positionAPICS or ISM Certification preferredThree to five years’ materials management experience in a high-volume manufacturing facilityKnowledge and ability to deploy APICS, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, and Lean Manufacturing conceptsExcellent communication (including cross-functional), problem solving and computer skillsAbility to multi-task and effectively motivate team members & others with diverse backgroundsAbility to use Microsoft Office Software and DataWorks or other operating systems as requiredContinuous improvement or lean manufacturing experience a plusWhat We OfferAt MITER Brands, we invest in your health, wealth, and wellness.
