Job Summary

The Materials Manager reports to the Plant Manager within Crown Bakeries. This position has a key role in the Supply Chain function and is responsible for overseeing the planning, procurement, storage, control, and distribution of materials and products in accordance with manufacturing of finished goods and office supplies.

Working at the direction of the Corporate Planning Manager, this role provides onsite leadership to ensure logistics, warehousing, and procurement operations meet safety, quality, delivery, cost, and housekeeping objectives to support strategic growth initiatives.

Responsibilities
  1. Overall responsibility for supply, accuracy, and maintenance of raw and packaging inventories related to manufacturing finished goods and office supplies.
  2. Collaborate with leadership & peers to ensure supply chain readiness on key initiatives.
  3. Identify and resolve supply chain challenges to meet customer expectations.
  4. Build strong relationships with product suppliers.
  5. Monitor ordering cycles based on forecasts, ensuring cost savings, adherence to lead times, and inventory goals.
  6. Procure materials and supplies, conduct audits, and cycle counts per company policies.
  7. Manage indirect & direct spend to meet organizational targets.
  8. Schedule delivery of materials, identify opportunities to reduce inbound transportation costs.
  9. Support development of inventory staff and plan for future succession, including training needs.
  10. Support audit requirements related to planning, procurement, and inventory control.
  11. Develop knowledge of MRP/ERP systems, ensuring data accuracy.
  12. Ensure compliance with GMPs, safety policies, and regulations.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
  1. Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Operations Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or similar; experience may substitute for degree.
  2. 5+ years' experience in production planning, logistics, or food manufacturing preferred.
  3. 3+ years' experience with MRP/ERP systems (Sage X3 preferred).
  4. Knowledge of the consumer goods industry, especially baking ingredients.
  5. Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and collaboration skills.
  6. Excellent communication skills at all organizational levels.
  7. Entrepreneurial mindset, resourcefulness, and ability to operate with limited resources.
  8. Business acumen, problem-solving skills, and organizational agility.
  9. Good time management and experience handling high-volume data.
  10. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Work Environment

Operates in a production plant, shipping/receiving area, and office environment. Exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and odors. Uses standard office equipment.
