Your Impactful Role
The Materials Manager oversees the daily operations of materials management within the surgery center. This role includes timely order placement to ensure sufficient supplies, conducting inventory control, and identifying and reporting backorders to the nursing staff. Additional responsibilities include receiving supplies, managing costs, and adhering to safety protocols to prevent damage or harm to personnel and patients. The Materials Manager is also knowledgeable about the surgery center's contracts concerning supplies and equipment.

  • Order and maintain supplies, medications, equipment, and specialty surgeon requests for the Center.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels and anticipate supply needs based on the surgery schedule.
  • Exhibit a customer service attitude towards vendors, physicians, and staff members.
  • Reconcile invoices and purchase orders for inventory and implantable items.
  • Manage returns for equipment in need of repair.
  • Coordinate quarterly inventory counts and complete data entry.
  • Ensure compliance with Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) agreements.
  • Work with vendors to obtain quotes for new instruments and equipment as requested.
  • Update pricing in the inventory supply software.
  • Maintain a clean storage environment with attention to safety and storage requirements for equipment and supplies.
  • Handle the proper disposal of biohazardous materials.
  • Understand and perform proper techniques for using equipment in the work area.
  • Adhere to POSC-P procedures, policies, and standards.
  • Assist with special assignments as directed.
  • Train new employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Experience in Materials Management in surgical setting desired.
  • Surgical technician experience preferred.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Knowledge of MS Word; including Outlook, Advantix , and IOS.
  • This position requires involvement in preparation of State and AAAHC Surveys.

There is potential exposure to anesthetic gases, hazardous chemicals, blood and body fluids, sharps, and cleaning solutions. The employee frequently is required to move all extremities within a full range of motion, as well as stoop and bend at 90 degrees. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
