Job description

HICO America, headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with facilities in Los Angeles, Greensburg, PA, and Memphis, TN, is part of the Power Systems business unit in the Industrial Performance Group of the Hyosung Corporation, a large publicly traded corporation based in Seoul, South Korea. HICO is an ISO 9001 and 14001 certified company, specializing in power system products.

Position Summary:

The Materials Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of parts inventory management, purchasing, shipping, and receiving operations. This role involves managing parts inventory for high voltage distribution equipment, ensuring efficient material handling processes, and ensuring timely and accurate invoices, purchase orders, and associated paperwork. The Parts Manager will work closely with vendors and suppliers, manage project tracking, and contribute to warehouse management activities to maintain a smooth operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Purchasing: Responsible for sourcing, ordering, and maintaining inventory levels of parts and materials, ensuring availability for ongoing operations and projects.
  • Shipping (Domestic/International): Oversee the shipping process, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of parts both domestically and internationally.
  • Receiving: Manage the receiving process for all parts, ensuring accuracy in part counts, condition, and documentation upon arrival.
  • Part Inventory Control / Management: Maintain accurate records of parts inventory, perform regular stock checks, and ensure proper organization and storage to prevent loss or damage.
  • High Voltage Distribution Equipment: Oversee inventory management and ordering for high voltage distribution equipment, ensuring compliance with all safety standards and regulations.
  • Managing / Qualifying Vendors/Suppliers: Evaluate, qualify, and manage relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure the best pricing, quality, and timely deliveries.
  • Material Handling (Forklift / Overhead Crane): Operate forklifts and overhead cranes as necessary to assist in the moving and storage of heavy parts and equipment.
  • Invoice Generation and Associated Paperwork: Prepare and verify invoices for parts and materials, ensuring all associated paperwork is accurate and filed accordingly.
  • PO Creation: Create and track purchase orders (POs) to ensure timely procurement of materials and parts for various projects and operations.
  • Project Tracking / Spreadsheet Management: Track and report on project progress through spreadsheets, ensuring parts are available when needed for ongoing projects.
  • Warehouse Management: Supervise warehouse activities to ensure the smooth flow of inventory, proper storage, and adherence to safety protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in parts management, inventory control, and logistics.
  • Familiarity with high voltage distribution equipment is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of shipping and receiving procedures (domestic and international).
  • Experience with vendor/supplier management and evaluation.
  • Skilled in material handling using forklifts and overhead cranes.
  • Proficiency in Excel or other spreadsheet tools for project tracking and inventory management.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or higher in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.
  • Years of experience in parts management, inventory control, or related role.
  • Certification for forklift operation and overhead crane use preferred.
