Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking an Inventory/Material Handler to support the Material Services organization. You will handle material accountability, operate the storeroom and storage yards, and process material records.

Responsibilities include issuing materials, inspecting received goods, packing for shipment, and using a materials management system. Safety and environmental procedures apply when handling hazardous materials.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year in inventory control, material handling, warehousing, or related fields.
• Basic computing skills to use inventory management software (Maximo) and MS Excel/Word.
• Ability to work independently with good communication and logistics knowledge.
• Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds and hold a valid state driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Issue material with proper authorization and process related records.
• Inspect received material for quantity, identity, and condition.
• Operate materials management systems and packing/shipping records.
• Prepare and pack material for shipment or storage, including hazardous materials handling.
• Operate material handling equipment (forklifts, hand trucks, cranes) as needed.
• Maintain inventory levels and perform cycle counts with approvals.
