Job summary

American Electric Power in Seattle is seeking staff to assist the Material Services organization by handling material accountability, storeroom operations, and storage yards. The role includes issuing material, inspecting received items, and maintaining records.

Responsibilities encompass shipping/receiving, packing, and operating material handling equipment, with emphasis on safety and accuracy in inventory management.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year in inventory control, material handling, warehousing or related field.
• Basic computer skills to use inventory management software such as Maximo; Excel and Word experience preferred.
• Must have knowledge of logistics related to shipping and relocating inventory.
• Able to understand basic math and work independently with good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Issue material under proper authorization; process and file records including picking up, hauling and delivering materials and operating company vehicles.
• Check received material for quantity; visually inspect identity and condition; initiate receipt and related records.
• Report irregularities and abnormal conditions.
• Record material returned; place usable items in stock and sort non-usable materials into scrap; process related records.
• Operate terminals and printers supporting the inventory system and other office equipment.
• Prepare and pack material for shipment/storage, including shipping papers and related records; may include hazardous materials per safety procedures.
• Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, hoists, cranes, order pickers as required.
• Assist supervisor with efficient storage, bin/rack changes and location updates.
• Assist in maintaining inventory levels through cycle counts and discrepancy adjustments.
• Assist employees of equal or higher classification.
• Perform duties in line with safety rules and regulations.
