This position functions as a Warehouse Worker in the Food Service Department at the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) federal correctional facility.
Responsibilities include supervising inmate workers who receive, store, and issue supplies, materials, equipment, and commodities necessary for the Food Service Department's operation.
The role also involves clerical duties, Funds Control, Time and Attendance, and budgeting tasks as assigned by the Food Service Administrator. The incumbent is expected to apply a working knowledge of relevant policies and procedures related to this office and the food service operations of the institution.
Additional responsibilities include follow-up on outstanding purchase orders with commercial vendors.
All correctional institution employees are responsible for maintaining security of the institution, and these correctional responsibilities take precedence over other duties and are performed regularly.

Applicants must have sufficient training and experience to perform the duties of the position. Qualifications will be assessed by comparing your application and responses to the Applicant Assessment Questions against the guidelines in the Job Qualification System for Trades and Labor Occupations, WS-6907 series.
To qualify, you must meet the Barely Acceptable level on both the 'Ability to supervise' and 'Aptitude for work with prisoners' elements, receive at least half of the total possible points, and provide detailed information on your resume to demonstrate that you possess the necessary experience and skills at the journeyman level. Failure to clearly identify journeyman-level skills may lower your score or render you ineligible.

In accordance with 5 U.S.C. 3307, a maximum entry age of 36 has been established for initial appointment to a Bureau of Prisons position. If you are above this age and have prior federal law enforcement coverage, you must submit an SF-50 to verify prior coverage.
