Job summary

United Steel, New England's largest fabricator and erector of structural steel and miscellaneous metals, is seeking a material handler with 2–3 years of experience. You will load, unload, and move materials, operate lifts, and assist with maintenance in a manufacturing setting.

The role requires basic math and strong attention to detail, with supportive supervision and opportunities for growth in a growing company that values teamwork and safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Basic shop math, reading, writing, and interpreting English.
• Strong attention to detail and good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Safely loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant, yard, or work site.
• Reads work orders or follows instructions to identify materials to be moved.
• Loads and unloads materials onto pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
• Conveys materials from storage or work area to designated area.
• Operates lifting attachments and assists crane/hoisting operators as needed.
• Counts, weighs, and records units moved on daily production sheets.
• Attaches labels to materials and marks cases or containers.
• Prepares and loads trucks for Industrial Truck Operator tasks.
• Lifts heavy objects and helps clean and maintain work areas and equipment.
• Performs prescribed maintenance on machines and adheres to safety regulations.
