Job Description

General Responsibilities:

Perform field and/or laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials (e.g., soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel). Communicate with project managers, engineering technicians, client representatives, contractors, and others regarding site activities, project requirements, and testing, observation, and inspection results. Transport material samples with documentation to the laboratory for testing and analysis. Prepare and submit data and observations through reports for daily transmittal to the Project Manager. Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas. Assist with scheduling and dispatch of Technicians. Adhere to safety standards.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Perform testing, observation, and inspection as directed, following training and procedures.
  2. Document findings and results clearly.
  3. Analyze data to verify accuracy before reporting.
  4. Communicate findings to Project Manager and team.
  5. Possess proficiency in multiple testing and inspection areas.
  6. Train lower-level technicians.
  7. Supervise activities of other technicians on-site or in the lab.
  8. Interact with clients and site personnel as directed.
  9. Assist in developing testing and inspection scopes.
  10. Maintain equipment calibration and operation.
  11. Perform advanced fieldwork and support project management.
  12. Plan, schedule, and dispatch technicians based on skills and project needs.
  13. Coordinate pre-dispatch activities.
  14. Track project data and status in CMELMS system.
  15. Communicate project status and capabilities to clients.
  16. Follow safety practices, report issues, and ensure quality standards.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience or equivalent training.
  • Proficiency with computers, MS Word, and Excel.
  • ACI certifications (e.g., Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I, Concrete Strength Testing Technician, Radiation Safety and Nuclear Density Gauge).
  • Successful completion of safety certifications.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable record.

Preferred Certifications:

  • NICET Level III in Construction Materials Testing or Geotechnical categories.
  • ICC certifications in reinforced concrete, fireproofing, masonry, prestressed concrete, structural steel.
  • AWS Senior Certified Welding Inspector.
  • ASNT Level III in nondestructive testing areas.
