General Responsibilities

Perform field and/or laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials (e.g., soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel). Communicate with project managers, engineering technicians, client representatives, contractor’s representatives, and others regarding the construction site, project requirements, testing, observation, inspection requirements, and results. Transport material samples with identifying documentation to the laboratory for testing and analysis. Prepare and submit data and observations in reports for daily transmittal to the Terracon Project Manager. Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas. Assist with scheduling and dispatch of Technicians. Adhere to strict safety standards.

3062: Engineering Technician III

Essential Roles and Responsibilities
  • Perform testing, observation, and inspection as directed, following training and procedures.
  • Document findings clearly and accurately.
  • Perform basic data analysis to verify accuracy before submission.
  • Communicate findings to Project Manager and team members.
  • Possess proficiency in multiple areas of testing and inspection.
  • May train lower-level technicians and lead activities on projects.
  • Maintain equipment and calibration.
  • Follow safety rules and report issues.
  • Maintain quality standards on all projects.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience or equivalent training.
  • Experience with laptops, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
Materials Certifications
  • ACI certifications such as Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I or Concrete Strength Testing Technician.
  • Certified in radiation safety and Nuclear Density Gauge operation.
  • Other safety certifications as required.
Preferred Certifications
  • NICET Level II in Construction Materials Testing or Geotechnical categories.
  • ICC certifications in various structural categories.
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
  • ASNT Level II in nondestructive testing areas.
