This position involves travel, and applicants must live within a two-hour radius from one of our offices located in Texas.

In this position, you will travel 100% of the time to work on multiple high-profile projects such as transportation, commercial buildings, wind farms, and more in many geographical areas. General Responsibilities:

The Traveling Construction Technician will perform various observations and tests on construction materials such as soils, concrete, masonry, reinforcing steel, and asphalt. Throughout the projects, you will communicate with Project Managers, client representatives, contractor's representatives, and other key stakeholders regarding testing and inspection results. Tests are performed on building construction projects and further tested in Terracon laboratories. Successful candidates will receive in-depth technical training and professional certifications as they advance in the position.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Travel to and from projects as assigned.
  • Assist with tasks and perform basic sample tests and observations under the direction of staff professionals or project managers.
  • Document and prepare sample testing and observation data using a laptop or tablet device; submit findings accurately to a Project Manager and communicate testing and inspection results effectively.
  • Participate in a progressively increased role of training and responsibility in work assignments.
  • Ensure testing equipment and tools are properly calibrated and maintained.
  • Follow safety rules and practices, perform pre-task planning, and report safety issues to management.
  • Maintain quality standards on all projects and work cohesively as a team.
  • Transport materials safely from various job sites to the lab using a company-provided vehicle.

Requirements:

  • 100% Travel Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience or the equivalent in training and related experience.
  • Experience with laptop computer use and Microsoft Word and Excel.

Materials Certifications:

  • ACI certification in one or more of the following areas:
  • Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I
  • Concrete Strength Testing Technician
  • Certified in radiation safety and Nuclear Density Gauge operation.

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Certifications in two or more of the following areas:
  • NICET Level II certification in Construction Materials Testing (Asphalt, Concrete, Soils).
  • ICC certification in categories such as Reinforced Concrete, Structural Masonry, etc.
  • Other relevant certifications considered by the Department Manager.

This position is categorized as a "Remote Only" position, working from home or other locations without a designated office workspace.

The salary range is approximately $21.75 - $30.25 per hour, adjusted based on location, qualifications, and experience.
