Job summary

Terracon is seeking a senior leader to oversee a department’s projects and operations in Utah. The role ensures work is timely, compliant, and aligned with client needs and Terracon policies while guiding staff training, safety, and service quality.

You will supervise proposals, cost estimates, and business development activities, plan the department’s annual strategy, and manage metrics on revenue, profitability, and payroll, while mitigating project risks and maintaining client relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline with 10 years’ practice experience (or 14 years with no degree).
• Master’s degree or PhD preferred.
• Previous supervisory experience required and previous managerial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and oversees the preparation of complex proposals and cost estimates.
• Prepares and participates in client and proposal related presentations.
• Directs the short-range business development activities to ensure adequate fees to support payroll.
• Plan for recruitment, selection, training, mentoring, and development of all department employees.
• Prepare the department annual business plan.
• Oversee and manage key department metrics: revenue growth, staff chargeability, project billing and collections, profitability.
• Develop understanding of project-related risk and be familiar with risk policies.
• Lead safety efforts and model a safe work environment; promote pre-task planning.
