Job Overview

The Material Planner (Buyer) manages the material planning process, including purchase order placement, supplier follow-up, and delivery for customer orders. The role involves maintaining supplier relationships and supporting operations and management.

Responsibilities

1. Plan all purchased parts within the responsibility area, making decisions to release, firm, cancel, or defer work based on inventory, demand, and capacity.
2. Maintain appropriate inventory levels to support the production plan.
3. Work with suppliers to expedite or defer materials to meet internal and external requirements.
4. Manage material supply independently to ensure on-time deliveries.
5. Identify priorities proactively to update purchase orders efficiently.
6. Build and maintain supplier relationships, including communication outside of normal hours.
7. Troubleshoot issues and negotiate with suppliers as needed.
8. Provide administrative support, including RFQ responses and managing transportation logistics.
9. Plan service parts requirements for purchased materials based on demand.
10. Coordinate with Accounts Payable on purchase orders, invoicing, and pricing issues.
11. Maintain accurate purchase order data in ERP, modifying orders as needed.
12. Manage engineering changes and coordinate inventory rotation to minimize waste.
13. Represent Material Planning in meetings and prepare reports for management.

Requirements

• 3+ years of purchasing experience.
• Experience in negotiating with suppliers.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and material management systems.
