Job Description:
Demand Planner
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive the S&OP process for Demand – Supply alignment with all stakeholders of assigned divisions.
- Review statistical demand forecast, understand the internal & external drivers of sales of assigned commodities, and use that to improve the quality of demand forecasting.
- Engage with business leaders to create positive overrides on the demand forecast and finalize the consensus marketing demand forecast (qualitative demand forecast).
- Continuously engage with business teams to identify demand fluctuations early and ensure seamless information flow into the supply planning and fulfillment teams to help bridge demand-supply gaps.
- Maintain continuous engagement with support teams for product availability.
- Manage the product portfolio by assessing product lifecycle and ensuring SKU portfolio optimization.
- Track actual sales during the month and analyze deviations from the final forecast to improve future statistical forecasts.
- Reduce non-working and excess inventory through proactive demand adjustments, information sharing, and effective liquidation strategies with Sales & support functions.
- Ensure data integrity in line with corporate guidelines and policies.
- Drive process and capability improvements in the Demand Planning function locally and implement global best practices in collaboration with the international supply chain organization.
- Review customer back orders and coordinate with relevant functions to reduce back orders.
- Support productivity improvement projects and ERP implementation activities.
Key Metrics:
- S&OP process adherence and timeliness.
- Final forecast accuracy percentage, including bias reduction.
- Ratio of good over-rides to bad over-rides.
- Non-working inventory percentage.
- Adherence to key program implementation timelines.
- SKU rationalization: target versus actual.
Key Skills, Competencies & Experience:
- MBA in Operations/Systems from a top-tier business school, preferably with an engineering degree, or a Master’s in statistics or a related field.
- 3-6 years of professional experience in supply/inventory planning, demand planning, or sales analytics, with prior experience leading a small or medium team preferred.
- Interest in evolving practices in supply chain planning and statistical business modeling.
- APICS certification is preferred.
- Strong skills in managing advanced/complex Excel, Access databases, and applications.
- Knowledge of SAP is advantageous.
