Job summary

BlueLinx (NYSE: BXC) is seeking a Material Handler/Forklift Operator at our distribution center. This role focuses on safe operation of forklift, loading and unloading building materials, storing materials, and preparing distribution paperwork.

We offer a fixed wage of $25.90 per hour with a Monday–Friday schedule, strong safety training, and a comprehensive benefits package including health/dental/vision, 401(k) match, tuition reimbursement, life insurance, PTO and 8 holidays per year.

Qualifications

• One year or recent forklift/warehouse experience.
• Ability to safely operate forklift and transport products.
• Ability to read and understand sales orders and safety material.
• Strong safety record and stable work history.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift in compliance with training and safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars with minimal damage.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk).
• Prepare paperwork for distribution and shipping of products.
• Perform daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the working area.
• Assist in periodic inventory counts as requested.

What You’ll Do

• Operate forklift in compliance with forklift training and safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk)

• Performs daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.

What We’re Looking For

• One year or recent forklift/warehouse experience
• Ability to proficiently and safely use forklift to transport products, load/unload trucks
• Ability to understand and follow directions
• Ability to work independently at times under pressure
• Ability to handle physical tasks, such as lifting up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to read/comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, safety material, etc.
• Safe work record and stable work history

The fixed rate is $25.15 per hour, but no less than the local minimum wage. Actual compensation will depend on factors including experience, qualifications, skills, geographic location, and other job-related considerations.
