Job summary

BlueLinx Holdings Inc. in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Material Handler/Forklift Operator to join our distribution team. You will operate forklift, load/unload materials, and prepare shipping paperwork.

This full-time position offers a fixed wage of $21.31 per hour, a Monday–Friday schedule, comprehensive benefits starting day one, 15 days PTO and 8 company holidays.

Candidates should have at least one year of forklift/warehouse experience and a safe work history.

Qualifications

• One year or recent forklift/warehouse experience.
• Able to operate forklift and transport products safely.
• Able to read and follow sales orders and safety material.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift in compliance with safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk).
• Prepare distribution and shipping paperwork.
• Performs daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness in working and assigned area.
• Assists in periodic inventory counts as requested.

What You’ll Do:

• Operate forklift in compliance with forklift training and safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk)
• Prepare the paperwork required for distribution and shipping of products.
• Performs daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in working and assigned area.
• Assists in periodic inventory counts as requested.

What We’re Looking For:

• One year or recent forklift/warehouse experience
• Ability to proficiently and safely use forklift to transport products, load/unload trucks
• Ability to understand and follow directions
• Ability to work independently at times under pressure
• Ability to handle physical tasks, such as lifting up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to read/comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, safety material, etc.
• Safe work record and stable work history

The fixed rate is $21.31 per hour, but no less than the local minimum wage. Actual compensation will depend on factors including experience, qualifications, skills, geographic location, and other job-related considerations.
