Job summary

BlueLinx Corporation is seeking a Material Handler/Forklift Operator to join our distribution center team in Michigan. The role centers on operating a forklift, loading/unloading materials, and preparing shipping paperwork while adhering to safety guidelines.

We offer a fixed wage of $21.31 per hour with a Monday–Friday schedule, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for growth. Applicants should be able to lift up to 75 lbs and maintain accurate inventory records.

Qualifications

• One year or recent forklift/warehouse experience.
• Ability to proficiently and safely use forklift to transport products, load/unload trucks.
• Ability to read/sell orders, safety material, etc.
• Safe work record and stable work history.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift in compliance with safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk).
• Prepare distribution and shipping paperwork.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and maintenance.

What You’ll Do

• Operate forklift in compliance with forklift training and safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk)
• Prepare the paperwork required for distribution and shipping of products.
• Performs daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in working and assigned area.
• Assists in periodic inventory counts as requested.

What We’re Looking For

• Ability to understand and follow directions
• Ability to work independently at times under pressure
• Ability to handle physical tasks, such as lifting up to 75 lbs.

The fixed rate is $21.31 per hour, but no less than the local minimum wage. Actual compensation will depend on factors including experience, qualifications, skills, geographic location, and other job-related considerations. BlueLinx also offers a comprehensive benefits package including health care, dental, vision, life and disability insurance starting the first day of the month, 15 days of paid time off that start accruing your first day, and 8 paid holidays per year.
