Job summary

BlueLinx Holdings Inc. is seeking a Material Handler/Forklift Operator for our distribution center in the United States. The role requires a year of forklift/warehouse experience and safe operation of forklifts to load, unload, and move building materials.

You will prepare shipping paperwork, perform equipment inspections, maintain the work area, and assist with inventory counts. The position offers a fixed wage, Monday–Friday schedule, and a strong benefits package including health care, 401(k)

Qualifications

• One year or recent forklift/warehouse experience.
• Ability to proficiently and safely use forklift to transport products, load/unload trucks.
• Ability to understand and follow directions.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift in compliance with forklift training and safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk).
• Prepare the paperwork required for distribution and shipping of products.
• Perform daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in working and assigned area.
• Assist in periodic inventory counts as requested.

What You’ll Do:

• Operate forklift in compliance with forklift training and safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.

• Performs daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.

What We’re Looking For:

• One year or recent forklift/warehouse experience
• Ability to proficiently and safely use forklift to transport products, load/unload trucks
• Ability to understand and follow directions
• Ability to work independently at times under pressure
• Ability to handle physical tasks, such as lifting up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to read/comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, safety material, etc.
• Safe work record and stable work history

The fixed rate is $20.50 per hour, but no less than the local minimum wage. Actual compensation will depend on factors including experience, qualifications, skills, geographic location, and other job-related considerations.
