Job summary

BlueLinx Holdings Inc. in Springfield, MO, is seeking a Material Handler / Forklift Operator to join our distribution center.

You will operate a forklift, load and unload materials, and prepare paperwork for distribution to ensure accurate, timely delivery. Qualifications

• One year or more forklift/warehouse experience.
• Ability to safely operate a forklift.
• Ability to read and understand sales orders and safety materials.
• Reliable work history and ability to follow directions.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift in accordance with safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk).
• Prepare paperwork for distribution and shipping.
• Perform daily equipment inspections.
• Maintain cleanliness of the workspace.
• Assist in periodic inventory counts.

What You’ll Do:

• Operate forklift in compliance with forklift training and safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk)
• Prepare the paperwork required for distribution and shipping of products.
• Performs daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in working and assigned area.
• Assists in periodic inventory counts as requested.

What We’re Looking For:

• One year or recent forklift/warehouse experience
• Ability to proficiently and safely use forklift to transport products, load/unload trucks
• Ability to understand and follow directions
• Ability to work independently at times under pressure
• Ability to handle physical tasks, such as lifting up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to read/comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, safety material, etc.
• Safe work record and stable work history

The fixed rate is $20.22 per hour, but no less than the local minimum wage.
