Job summary

Centerline Logistics seeks an experienced vessel Master to oversee the safe transportation of assigned barges and cargo, and supervise crew. The role includes docking, maintenance oversight, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

You will coordinate drills, reports, requisitions, and inspections to maintain vessel readiness. The position requires current Coast Guard licenses and endorsements, TWIC, and emergency/HAZWOPER training.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, speak and understand English over radiotelephone and/or radio.
• Must be able to communicate in English and effectively direct workers in assigning jobs and seeing them through to completion.
• Valid TWIC
• Must have a valid first aid certificate.
• Must have valid CPR training.
• Must have a valid HAZWOPER certificate or complete a 24 hour training course within 30days from date of hire.
• Must have valid GMDSS operator endorsement.
• Must have valid states driver’s license.
• Valid radio operator’s license.
• Must be able to understand and use information in cargo information cards and material safety data sheets.
• Must be able to work independently and without direct supervision.

Responsibilities

• Oversees safety of vessel and crew.
• Stands wheelhouse watches underway.
• Direct crew in performance of drills.
• Determine the need for and assign lookouts as necessary.
• Prepare written reports per company and regulatory directives.
• Inspect cleanliness of the vessel and barge.
• Inspect and monitor tug/barge maintenance activities.
• Assign work projects for crew.
• Purchase food for crew.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
