Job summary

Centerline Logistics seeks an experienced Vessel Master to oversee the safe operation of tug and barge teams, maintaining safety of crew, cargo and vessel.

You will stand wheelhouse watches, direct drills, inspect maintenance, manage supplies, and ensure compliance with Coast Guard rules and company policies. Coast Guard Master 200 GT near Coastal license and towing endorsements are required; five years towing barges on the US East Coast preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must read, speak and understand English for radiotelephone communications.
  • English communication and ability to direct workers to completion.
  • Coast Guard Master license with near Coastal endorsement is required.
  • Master of Towing near Coastal endorsement preferred.
  • Five years towing barges as Master on the US East Coast required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees safety of vessel.
  • Stands wheelhouse watches underway.
  • Direct crew in drills.
  • Assign lookouts as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Prepare maintenance schedules and work lists.
  • Approve requisitions and work orders.
  • Manage inventory and material requisitions.
  • Inspect tug/barge maintenance activities.
  • Assign crew work projects.
  • Inspect vessel cleanliness.
  • Purchase food for crew.
  • Perform repairs with marine tools as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
