Job summary

Centerline Logistics is seeking an experienced Master for tug and barge operations on the US West Coast. You will oversee vessel safety, supervise crew, and ensure compliance with federal and company policies.

Regional requirements include Coast Guard license (minimum 200 GT) with radar observer and Master or Towing near Coastal endorsements; five years of coastwise towing master experience. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

  • Must hold Coast Guard license with 200 GT near Coastal endorsement and radar observer endorsement.
  • Five years of towing barges as Master, coastwise on West Coast required.
  • Ability to read, speak English and direct crew under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees safety of vessel
  • Stands wheelhouse watches underway
  • Direct crew in drills
  • Determine need for lookouts and assign
  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Company policies
  • Prepare, monitor, and update vessel work lists and maintenance schedules
  • Ensure crew perform duties
  • Prepare written reports
  • Check and approve requisitions and work orders
  • Monitor supplies, inventory and material requisitions
  • Conduct inspections and monitor tug/barge maintenance
  • Assign work projects for crew
  • Inspect cleanliness of vessel and barge
  • Purchase food for crew
  • Work aboard with pike poles, lines, winches and tools
  • Perform other duties as assigned
