Job summary

3D Systems is seeking a Field Service Engineer to ensure optimal performance of 3D printer hardware at customer sites in Massachusetts. The role requires hands-on installation, relocation, repair, and preventive maintenance with extensive travel to client locations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; AA degree from a technical school or related; Military training preferred.
• 3+ years related experience preferred.
• Proficient in troubleshooting, configuration, installation and repair of electronic systems and computers; solid mechanical aptitude.
• Knowledge of electro/mechanical device repair with attention to detail.
• Requires organization, problem solving, and customer-relations skills.
• Requires exceptional interpersonal and communication skills in a business environment and professional representation of 3D Systems.
• Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
• Ability to work under deadlines with multiple interruptions.
• Ability to read safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Travel required; valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Physical ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, sit and talk; exposure to electrical hazards and lasers.
• High school diploma and technical degree/military training background noted.

Responsibilities

• Perform equipment repairs for customers, demonstrating familiarity with warranty and contract status.
• Comprehend and analyze unique customer configurations, including materials and software.
• Assess customers' proficiency, capability, and willingness to perform self-maintenance.
• Execute preventive maintenance tasks as directed by the Service Manager.
• Recognize and appreciate the overall business value of customers to 3D Systems.
• Acknowledge the significance of the Customer Service Engineer's role in enhancing customer experience.
