Job summary

Boston University seeks a Mass Spectrometry Instrumentation Specialist to oversee the operation of shared MS instruments in the Chemical Instrumentation Center. The role provides technical and scientific support to faculty, students, staff, and other researchers, helping design experiments and optimize analyses.

You will coordinate instrument maintenance, develop methods for MS and chromatography, train users, assist with data interpretation, and help expand BU's mass spectrometry capabilities

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related life sciences field.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operation of shared mass spectrometry instrumentation.
• Coordinate instrument maintenance and service.
• Develop and optimize analytical methods for MS and chromatography.
• Provide training and technical support to faculty, students, staff, and other users.
• Assist researchers with data interpretation and reporting.
• Collaborate with faculty and CIC colleagues to expand mass spectrometry capabilities.
