Job summary

Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC in the United States seeks a Mason to perform brick, block, tile, and concrete work on building structures. You will follow job specs and drawings, select materials, and work from complex instructions.

Applicants should have a high school or trade background with 4 years of experience or completion of an accredited apprenticeship with Journeyman status, and be able to read engineering drawings. U.S. citizenship required.

Qualifications

  • High school or vocational graduate with ability to read/write and perform basic math; must pass periodic physical exam.
  • Completion of a state accredited skilled trades program with 4 years of experience.
  • Completion of a state approved certified apprenticeship program with Journeyman or equivalent and 4 years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Determine material requirements and select appropriate materials.
  • Receive instructions from supervisor and work from complex drawings/engineering sketches.
  • Follow equipment data sheet or job specifications.
  • Perform masonry work on buildings (brick, block, mortar, tile, roads, walkways).
  • Mix, place and finish concrete and mortar as needed.
  • Lay brick in horizontal, vertical and arched surfaces.
  • Layout, cut and apply ceramic/glazed tile for showers or similar areas.
  • Repair concrete floor surfaces with industrial products or topcoats.

Join the Naval Nuclear Laboratory team in a Mason role.

Duties
  • Determine material requirements and select appropriate materials to perform a job.
  • Receive written or oral instructions from supervisor. Work from complex drawings and engineering sketches.
  • Follow equipment data sheet or job specification requirements.
  • Perform masonry work on various building structures including but not limited to brick, block, mortar, speed tile, roads and walkways.
  • Mixing, placement and finishing of concrete and mortar as needed.
  • Lay brick in horizontal, vertical and arched surfaces as required.
  • Lay out, cut and apply ceramic and glazed tile for shower stalls or similar application.
  • Repair concrete floor surfaces using synthetic-type industrial products or topcoat applications.
Required Combination Of Knowledge And Skill

High school or vocational school graduate or the equivalent with the ability to read, write and perform general mathematics of the variety usually learned in a high school or vocational school course. Must pass a periodic physical examination.

AND

Completion of a state accredited skilled trades program resulting in an educational degree or equivalent in the field of this position with 4 years of experience.

OR

Completion of a state approved certified apprenticeship program resulting in qualification of Journeyman or equivalent in the field of this position with 4 years of experience.

Preferred Skills
  • Preferred to possess a Journeyman qualification from a recognized trade union in the field of this position.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of industrial safety procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to work independently and with teams.

Pay Range

$41.61 hourly

Jobs categorized as subject to a collective bargaining agreement will adhere to the pay rates, wage increases, progression schedules, and other parameters identified and negotiated in said agreements. Wages and other compensation details are subject to change according to negotiated changes to the collective bargaining agreements.

Eligibility Requirements

All candidates must be U.S. citizens. Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. FMP is a government contractor and maintains a drug‑free workplace and workforce. All candidates must be able to pass a drug test in compliance with FMP company policy and 10 CFR 707. Marijuana is a Federal Schedule I controlled substance and illegal under Federal Law. Therefore, FMP is required to test for marijuana.
