Position Overview:

Are you a strategic marketing leader passionate about building brand awareness and driving impactful change? Helpful Engineering seeks a dedicated and experienced Volunteer Marketing Manager to spearhead our outreach and communications efforts. In this fully remote role, you will play a pivotal role in elevating our organization's visibility, building a robust marketing team, and developing strategies to support fundraising initiatives. This role focuses on strategic marketing, team building, and content direction, specifically within social media and SEO, rather than MarTech implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Brand Awareness & Visibility: Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy to significantly increase Helpful Engineering's recognition and reach.
  • Team Building & Leadership: Recruit, onboard, and mentor a volunteer team focused on social media, SEO, content creation, and partnership outreach. Foster a collaborative and productive team environment.
  • Fundraising Support: Collaborate with the fundraising team to develop and implement marketing strategies that support fundraising goals and initiatives.
  • Content Direction & Oversight: Oversee the creation and distribution of compelling digital content, ensuring consistent messaging and brand voice across all platforms, including LinkedIn, Facebook, X, Bluesky, and Threads.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Leadership and other departments to align marketing strategies with organizational goals and optimize outreach initiatives.
  • Performance Analysis & Reporting: Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and provide regular reports.
  • External & Internal Communications: Serve as a key liaison for marketing communications, representing the department in strategic meetings and ensuring clear and consistent messaging.
  • SEO Strategy: Develop and implement strategies to improve organic search visibility and make Helpful Engineering's work more discoverable.
  • Effective Communications Strategy: Create and implement the organizations primary communications strategy.

Time Commitment:

  • Initial onboarding and strategy development: 8-10 hours per week for the first 4-6 weeks.
  • Ongoing management and execution: 5-10 hours per week.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven Leadership: Minimum 5 years of experience in strategic marketing and communications, with a demonstrated ability to lead and build teams.
  • Brand Building Expertise: Experience in developing and executing strategies to increase brand awareness and visibility.
  • Fundraising Support: Experience working with fundraising teams or supporting fundraising initiatives through marketing efforts.
  • Strategic Thinking: Strong analytical and strategic planning skills, with the ability to translate organizational goals into effective marketing strategies.
  • Excellent Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Digital Marketing Proficiency: Solid understanding of social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, X, Bluesky, Threads), SEO principles, and content marketing best practices.
  • Project Management: Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Passion for Impact: A genuine commitment to Helpful Engineering's mission and a desire to make a positive impact.
  • Background in strategy, leadership, business, or management is highly advantageous.
  • Lead impactful marketing initiatives that significantly increase the visibility of a mission-driven organization.
