Job Title: Marketing Content Writer (Freelance)

Contract Length: 2 years

Location: Remote

Working Hours: Up to 10 hours per week, with an average of 2-4 articles per month depending on availability

Pay Rate: $47.83/hr.

Job Description:

  • This freelance writer role on our Content & Creative Services team will get to work with seasoned SEO experts, innovative creatives and help fuel a dedicated content engine by writing fun, well-researched blog articles that drive top of funnel, organic traffic to the Connections Academy Resource Hub Blog and social media engagement for families interested in enrolling their K-12 student in online school and already enrolled families.
  • Working remotely, this part-time freelance writer will collaborate with the Content & Creative Services team to ensure the successful delivery content, including updating existing legacy articles and writing original pieces based on a brief and set standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for writing, interest in audience-focused content marketing for families with school-aged children and teens, and familiarity with writing conversational, SEO-optimized blog content that informs, engages, and motivates readers to deliver on business goals.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to write blog content across a wide range of topics, adhering to outlined best practices, brand voice, and brand standards.
  • Ability to write all aspects of a post in multiple formats, including:
  • Article body copy.
  • Interactive in-post infographics.
  • Catchy article headlines.
  • Organic social media post copy driving to article.
  • SEO Optimization: Utilize provided SEO keywords to research and write content with organic optimization in mind.
  • Topic research and citation:
  • Perform third party research and review trends from competitors in digital content space to ensure written articles are relevant to today’s marketplace, are cited and are fact-checked.
  • Conduct interviews with subject matter experts, ghost-write content, and/or bylining their articles.
  • Ensure compliance with Connections Academy’s brand standards and style guide.
  • Embrace a constructive-feedback culture: Accept and implement feedback in a timely manner and apply feedback forward to future work Self-Motivation: Ability to work collaboratively with internal team’s project manager, communicating early and often bandwidth and expectations.

Additional Job Details

  • Formal writing samples of previous blog articles, thought leadership and/or SEO-optimization projects must be submitted along with resume.
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience writing and editing digital marketing content, namely for blogs.
  • Knowledge of and experience with crafting content for SEO, including optimizing writing for SEO/SEM, especially SEO to drive clicks, conversions, and returning users.
  • Writing for the web that is persuasive, conversational, and that leverages catchy headlines, linking strategies, brevity when needed, and CTAs.
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills, including knowledge and adaptability of editorial style guides and tone.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects based on business-critical needs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to handle situations with diplomacy and a professional demeanor at all times.
  • Ability to consult with internal constituents and draw information from others; produce written materials as required with permissions & legalities.
  • Understanding of/interest in current and future digital trends across platforms.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Solid background in SEO and SEM principles and methodologies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and familiarity of search engine optimized sites that rank high on major search engines for relevant keywords.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital media / social media.
