TurnAround Factor, an engineering, R&D, and manufacturing company based in Richmond, Virginia, is seeking a full-time Technical Proposal Writer to work on proposals, whitepapers, and presentations.

A Technical Proposal Writer is at heart a Science Communicator who is passionate about teaching and persuading others. Technical proposals are space constrained and must communicate complex ideas effectively and persuasively to a non-technical audience.

This role will work with engineers and scientists to facilitate the proposal writing process and distill complex technical subject matter into clear and concise communication for a less technical audience. They will help build outlines and thematic stories to organize content. They will design charts, diagrams, and graphics to convey complex ideas. They will review inputs from technical experts and provide feedback to improve clarity, prose, and purpose.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate proposal writing
• Manage contributions from various authors and subject matter experts
• Coordinate with project leadership and company leadership to prioritize effort
• Write technical proposals
• Communicate complex technical topics in persuasive writing for a less technical audience
• Clearly convey complex ideas in writing, graphics, layout, and design
• Conduct background research and write technical introductions
• Maintain libraries of examples and content to help start proposals
• Help the leadership team schedule resources across multiple proposals
• Support monthly, quarterly, and major deliverable reports to the customer
• Help project managers improve their technical writing and clarity
• Red Team key technical reports to provide constructive feedback on what can be improved
• Work with Admin staff to review potential opportunities
• Excellent written communications skills

This position is full-time, 100% remote within the United States, and offers flexible hours. At least 30 hours per week must be during US-Eastern Time business hours (9-5ET). Expected level of effort is 40 hours per week. Candidates must be willing to travel to our corporate office in Richmond, VA 4-5 times per year if needed.

Compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications. 4% 401(k) match available to all employees. This position will require access to technical data that is export controlled.
