This position will be based in Chicago, IL and requires regular travel within your assigned territory. Occasional travel to company sites may be required as needed.

Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Retail Market Development Manager to join our team. The role involves maximizing sales and distribution of our brands in retail accounts, executing sales and marketing strategies, understanding distributor deal structures, and identifying pricing opportunities to drive market growth.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Work closely with distributor personnel to execute programs, close gaps, and increase points of distribution (80% of time).
  2. Train and coach distributor sales reps and district managers.
  3. Gather and analyze market intelligence, identify opportunities, and share insights with management.
  4. Assist in maintaining retail prices and support recruiting efforts in key markets.
  5. Motivate distributor management and sales teams, coordinate with Shopper Marketing, and communicate standards.
  6. Engage in digital marketing and e-Retail initiatives, leveraging technology for performance monitoring.
  7. Represent Gallo at events, host promotional activities, and build community relationships.
  8. Negotiate sales objectives and incentives, build relationships, and manage expenses.
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree plus 2-3 years of relevant sales experience or high school diploma plus 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and safe driving record.
  • Ability to obtain liquor license as required.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% by air and car.
  • Ability to see, taste, and smell wine, and perform tastings.
  • Must be 21 or older.
  • Strong leadership, sales, and public speaking skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree plus 4-5 years of relevant experience, including prior roles in sales or marketing of Gallo brands.
Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $82,350 - $137,300/year, based on experience and qualifications.
