Job summary

COUNTRY Financial offers an enriching internship program designed to give students real, meaningful work. Interns partner with a mentor, join speaker sessions, and participate in case study competitions while networking across the organization.

Successful candidates will work full-time from late May 2027 to early August 2027, with potential part-time extension into fall 2027 and spring 2028. The program emphasizes professional growth, volunteering, and exposure to multiple business areas.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a degree in data analytics, data engineering, actuary, or a related field.
  • Graduation date of August 2027 or beyond.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize work.
  • Experience with data analysis tools including R, Python, MS Excel, Tableau, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with general data structures and SQL.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures overall goals for production and underwriting profitability are met by analyzing premium rates, loss experience, and retention.
  • Monitors the mix of business in assigned state(s), identifying changes in the mix and reasons for those changes.
  • Develops assigned state(s) business profit and growth strategies and translates business ideas and market opportunities into new product ideas by researching and maintaining awareness of all major competitors' current market positions (i.e., rates, service levels, financial positions and operating strategies), business directions, financial dynamics, and new technologies.
  • Communicates and coordinates key profit metrics; develops working relationships with Accounting, Actuarial, Claims, and Customer Service.

Responsibilities

Application Timeline

We know waiting can be difficult, so we want to set expectations upfront. Our internship recruiting process takes place over several months. Applications open in mid-September and are reviewed as they are received. HR interviews are expected to begin in mid-October, followed by interviews with hiring leaders. Depending on the role and applicant volume, hiring decisions and offers may be made anytime from October through January. We appreciate your patience throughout the process and will communicate updates as they become available.

Country Financial is headquartered in Bloomington, IL and our corporate internship program follows a hybrid schedule. If you’re based at our Bloomington, IL corporate office, you’ll enjoy a hybrid work schedule - three days in the office and two days working remotely. For roles posted as remote, candidates who live more than 50 miles from Bloomington, IL may qualify for a fully remote arrangement.
