Job summary

STAX Engineering seeks a hands‑on System Manager for Maritime Operations & Maintenance in the Bay Area. This leadership role oversees barge operations, mentors deckhands, troubleshoots complex equipment, and ensures safe, reliable delivery of the ERaaS system. Occasional travel to support California ports is required.

The role emphasizes ownership of operational readiness, safety, compliance, and documentation, with a clear training period progressing to senior pay levels.

Qualifications

• Experience leading teams in maritime, industrial, manufacturing, energy, utility or technical operations environments.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to assess operational issues and make decisions under pressure.
• Experience supervising field personnel in safety‑sensitive environments.
• TWIC Card and Boater Safety Card within 30 days preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance strategy development for maritime systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and system performance issues in real time.
• Conduct inspections and audits; implement corrective actions promptly.
• Oversee scheduling of upgrades, repairs and new installations with coordinated resources.
• Maintain detailed maintenance documentation and regulatory compliance.
• Promote a safety‑first culture and coach team members on standards.
• Supervise deckhands and operational personnel; support performance management.
• Ensure environmental, safety, operational and customer requirements are met.
